Turning a Wide Range of Ideas Into One Recognizable Editorial Brand

Role: Editorial strategy, content strategy, writing, creative direction, distribution, and digital product development
Taclesa is my independently owned editorial project exploring books, media, psychology, philosophy, writing, and everyday behavior.

The challenge was not finding enough things to talk about. It was creating enough structure for very different ideas to feel connected rather than becoming a feed of unrelated observations.

My role was to decide what belonged together, which ideas were worth developing, and how they could build a recognizable editorial identity across short-form, long-form, and owned content.

The Challenge

aclesa had no shortage of possible topics. The risk was fragmentation: books, film, psychology, philosophy, writing, and everyday observations could easily look like separate interests rather than one recognizable body of work.

The challenge was to create enough editorial structure for audiences to understand the relationship between those subjects, while still leaving room for curiosity, depth, and changing interests.

What I was Responsible For

  • Editorial positioning and direction
  • Content strategy and planning
  • Topic architecture and source research
  • Research, synthesis, and idea development
  • Short-form content development
  • Long-form editorial writing
  • Recurring editorial formats
  • Cross-platform content adaptation
  • Content repurposing
  • Creative direction
  • Distribution planning
  • Newsletter and owned-content development
  • Digital resource and product development

I BUILT AND MANAGED THE EDITORIAL DIRECTION FROM POSITIONING THROUGH DISTRIBUTION, INCLUDING:

My Approach

Create coherence across different subjects

Rather than treating books, film, psychology, philosophy, and writing as separate niches, I built the editorial direction around the questions and ideas connecting them.

Apply editorial judgment before creating content

Not every interesting source became content. I looked for a clear question, tension, interpretation, or argument—and whether the idea added something worth developing further.

Develop ideas at different levels of depth

A topic could begin as a short observation, develop into a deeper analysis or essay, and later inform a newsletter, evergreen resource, or digital product.

Make deeper ideas easier to understand through storytelling

I used recognizable experiences, cultural references, direct questions, and concrete examples to create accessible entry points while preserving the context and nuance behind the original idea.

01. Organize the source material

Built a working library from books, films, research, cultural references, personal observations, questions, and recurring themes.

02. Find the argument

Reduced broad subjects into the question, tension, interpretation, or point worth developing rather than simply summarizing the source.

03. Choose the right format and depth

Decided whether an idea worked best as a short observation, explainer, analysis, listicle, reflective piece, essay, or more substantial resource.

04. Adapt the idea across channels

Changed the framing, structure, and level of detail for TikTok, Instagram, Substack, Pinterest, and longer-form content rather than publishing the same asset everywhere.

05. Extend ideas worth developing

Used recurring themes, audience response, and the depth of the subject itself to identify opportunities for longer-form writing, evergreen resources, and digital products.

my workflow

Taclesa is my independently owned creator brand. I developed its positioning, editorial strategy, writing, creative direction, distribution approach, and digital resources.

Results

  • Organic audience growth: Built an organic TikTok audience of approximately 5,000 followers through creator-led editorial content.
  • Recognizable editorial positioning: Built a brand capable of covering several subjects without requiring each topic to live in a separate niche.
  • Clearer editorial architecture: Organized a large pool of possible ideas into recurring themes, questions, and formats that gave the brand greater consistency.
  • Stronger editorial judgment: Developed a repeatable way to decide which ideas deserved further development, what each piece was actually saying, and how much depth the subject required.
  • Cross-format idea development: Extended strong ideas across short-form social content, longer editorial work, newsletters, evergreen resources, and digital products rather than treating each format as a separate idea engine.
  • Owned-content pathways: Used recurring themes and audience interests to inform longer-form publishing, downloadable resources, and potential digital products beyond social platforms.
